    Notice of delay in publication of the statement of accounts 2024/25 for Public Inspection

    The Council has been unable to commence the statutory period for public inspection of the Council’s accounting records for 2024/25 by the July 1st as required by paragraph 15 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 (as amended) due to due to delays in preparing and finalising the Statement of Accounts for 2024/2025 as a result of a delay in information being received from external parties and additional accounting adjustments required as a result of a new accounting standard.

    The Council will publish a draft set of accounts as soon as reasonably practicable, following which the period for the exercise of public inspection will commence.

    A further notice will be published in due course setting out the public inspection period as soon as the draft 2024/25 Statement of Accounts have been finalised.

    The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 - Regulation 10, as amended by The Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2022.

    The audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024 for Hastings Borough Council has not yet been completed by the external auditors, Grant Thornton UK LLP. The Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2022 require that the audited accounts and opinion are published by 30 November 2024.

    The Council is continuing to work closely with the audit team as they complete their work. In line with the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, the Council has published a set of draft accounts. The Council will publish a final set of accounts as soon as the audit is concluded and the Audit Report issued.

    This notice of delayed audit is being published in accordance with Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.
