Bulky waste
What is the bulky waste collection service for?
The bulky waste collection service is intended for larger household items that cannot be placed in your household waste or recycling bins, such as armchairs and household appliances including washing machines, cookers and ovens.
Items must be capable of being safely lifted, loaded onto the collection vehicle and transported for disposal.
The service is not intended for the removal of large structures, construction materials, household or garden clearances, or large quantities of waste. Items that are too large, too heavy or difficult to handle safely may need to be dismantled before collection.
If an item needs dismantling, please do this before making a booking. If our crew cannot safely collect an item because it has not been dismantled or prepared correctly, the collection charge will not be refunded.
We cannot collect any single item that weighs more than 25kg. If an item can be dismantled, each separate item must weigh 25kg or less to be considered for collection. Dismantled parts may be counted as separate bulky waste items when calculating collection charges.
If you have items that do not meet these requirements, you may need to make your own arrangements to take them to an East Sussex Household Waste Recycling Site or use a private commercial waste collection service.
If you are unsure whether an item is suitable for collection, please contact us before booking.
