What do I need to know if my property is a listed building
A Listed Building is a building or other structure officially designated by Central Government as being of special architectural, historical or cultural significance.
A Listed Building may not be demolished, extended or altered without Listed Building Consent from the Council. Listed Building Consent is additional to any planning consent that may also be required.
Some buildings may not qualify for national listing, however, may be of local architectural or historical importance. The Council keeps a list of all locally important buildings within the borough.
