Organising and planning for safety
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Later this year, the country will enjoy a four-day bank holiday to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with an extensive programme of public events. The traditional late May bank holiday weekend has been moved to Thursday 2 June, with an additional bank holiday on Friday 3 June to create a four-day long weekend.
Hastings Borough Council has waived its normal road closure fee to enable street parties to go ahead during the jubilee. The Government has published details of how to organise a street party.
To ensure the event is run safely we do recommend that you do carry out a basic risk assessment to ensure that you and the other organisers have thought about things that might go wrong.
If you are planning an event in Hastings you will need to consider the following
- availability of preferred location
- the dates and times when you want to hold the event
- the size and scope of the event
- whether admission will be free or by payment
- the approximate number and profile of the people expected to attend.
