Our garden waste scheme and how to apply
Apply for a garden waste binGarden Waste Scheme
We offer a paid garden waste collection service from your household. You will be given a 240 litre wheeled brown bin which is collected every two weeks. This may not be at the same time as your household rubbish or recycling collections. There are a small number of properties that may not be suitable for the service because of access to collect and store bins.
The bin will be collected from the front of your property, on the path next to the highway the collection vehicle uses.
We do recommend that people consider home composting first as this is the most environmentally friendly method of recycling garden waste.
You can also take garden waste to the local household and recycling site.
How much does it cost?
The garden waste service costs £85 for a 12 month subscription, and your membership begins as soon as you receive your brown bin.
When you apply, you’ll pay the £85 fee for the current year and set up a direct debit for all future annual renewals. At renewal time, you’ll receive an invoice and the updated terms and conditions at least 10 working days before your direct debit payment is taken. Payments are collected on or around the 1st of the month at your renewal.
This is an optional, discretionary service, and we do not accept any other form of payment.
If you cancel your direct debit, your subscription will end and collections will stop.
How to apply?
You can apply quickly and easily using our online form via the button at the top of the page. If you don't already have a My Hastings account, you will need to create one.
The time it takes to deliver bins vary through demand and the time of year. You will be advised once your application is approved when you can expect to receive your bin by.
