  • Street Index of Listed Buildings Article 4 Properties and Other Heritage Assets

A street index, at the bottom of this page, provides a list of all properties that are

    • covered by an Article 4 Direction that does not affect the whole borough
    • Listed Buildings
    • Scheduled Ancient Monuments
    • Protected Wrecks
    • Historic Park and Gardens
    • On the Local list of Heritage Assets

    Listed Buildings

The Listed Building information in this list is taken from the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest for the Borough and is intended for general information only. It is not the Statutory List itself. The Statutory list can be viewed on the Historic England website.

There are three grades of listed buildings: Grade I, Grade II*, and Grade II where Grade I is the most important. The list below states the appropriate listed building grade for each property.

    Article 4 Directions

An Article 4 direction means that a planning application is required for certain works for which an application would not normally be necessary. Article 4 directions relate to painting restrictions, Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) restrictions and permitted development right restrictions. This may vary from one property to another. For more information please view our Article 4 Direction page. Please note that a property may be Listed and affected by one or more Article 4 directions and therefore it is important that you check the list below thoroughly.

The Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Article 4 affects all properties in the borough of Hastings and as such the properties are not included in the list below

    Other Heritage Assets

Scheduled Monuments, Protected Wrecks and Historic Parks and Gardens have also been added to the list below. More information can be found about these on the Historic England website. Buildings included in the Local List of Heritage Assets have also been added to the list below.
