We collect your personal data in order to assess and process your application for employment. If your application is successful the information will be used to create your personnel record.

We may also collect personal data about you from third parties, including references from former employers and information for criminal records checks. We will only collect this information once a job offer is made to you and we will only do so with your consent.

The lawful basis for processing personal data
Contract: the processing is necessary for a contract we have with the individual, or because they have asked us to take specific steps before entering into a contract.
Public task: the processing is necessary for us to perform a task in the public interest or for our official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.

The lawful basis for processing special category personal data
Employment Rights and Obligations: processing is necessary for the purposes of carrying out the obligations and exercising specific rights of the controller or of the data subject in the field of employment and social security and social protection law in so far as it is authorised by Union or Member State law or a collective agreement pursuant to Member State law providing for appropriate safeguards for the fundamental rights and the interests of the data subject.

Who we share your data with
Your personal data may be shared internally for the purposes of processing your application and undertaking the recruitment exercise. This would be limited to the Human Resources team, managers with a vacancy and any officers involved in the recruitment process.
We will not share your personal data with third parties unless your application for employment is successful and we make you a job offer. We will then share your personal data with your nominated referees in order to obtain references for you and, if applicable, with our selected occupational health contractors to obtain medical clearance.
Once your employment commences:
If you join the pension scheme we will share your information with our pension administering authority, East Sussex County Council.
We are required by law to share your bank details, pay details and tax deducted with Her Majesty's Revenues and Customs (HMRC).
Where your employment requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check, you will complete the required forms which will then be signed by us and forwarded to the DBS vetting service.
We will not share your personal data with any other organisations without your consent.
