Each of our councillors is legally responsible for protecting and processing the personal information that you provide, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

The lawful basis for processing personal data
Public task: the processing is necessary for our councillors to perform a task in the public interest or for their official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.

The lawful basis for processing special category personal data
Substantial public interest: the processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, on the basis of Union or Member State law which shall be proportionate to the aim pursued, respect the essence of the right to data protection and provide for suitable and specific measures to safeguard the fundamental rights of the data subject.

Who we share your data with
Your personal data may be shared with relevant council officers, other councillors, government departments or other public bodies in order to provide the help you have requested, or to resolve the issue you have raised. Our councillors will normally seek your permission before sharing your data.
Your data may also be disclosed to third parties where it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Any contracts with providers who might host personal information abroad have appropriate clauses to ensure adequate technical and organisational security measures are in place.
