Neighbourhood planning
Introduction
Neighbourhood planning forms part of the new planning system under provisions in the Localism Act 2011. Neighbourhood planning can be delivered through the following mechanisms:
- Neighbourhood Development Plans
- Neighbourhood Development Orders
- Community Right to Build initiatives.
Neighbourhood Planning guidance notes
We have produced the following guidance notes to help explain how the community can get involved in the neighbourhood planning process, as well as procedures for developing a Neighbourhood Forum:
- Neighbourhood Planning guidance notes (.pdf 62KB)
Neighbourhood Planning web links
In addition to the guidance notes, there are several other places where you can find out information about neighbourhood planning:
- Locality
- Department for Communities and Local Government
- Planning Advisory Service
- Planning Portal
- Planning Aid
- My Community Rights
It is important that you talk to us if you are thinking of developing a Neighbourhood Plan, as this will form a legal part of planning policy and requires formal processes to be undertaken. Contact Planning Policy on 01424 451098 or email fplanning@hastings.gov.uk
