Or listed building consent to change my door?
If your property is a listed building, listed building consent is likely to be required. In many cases planning permission would not be required to change a door of a property in a conservation area, however, if by changing the door this would materially affect the appearance of the building, planning permission may be required.
In such circumstances you are advised to contact the planning department planning@hastings.gov.uk to check before carrying out the works.
Where doors are also to be replaced, consideration should be given to retaining a traditional timber door, with finish and detailing appropriate to the age of the property. Inappropriate door designs, such as 'mock Georgian' styles, and those with decorative glazed panels inserted into a standard uPVC unit should be avoided.Additional advice on how to maintain historic doors can be found here.
