What happens when a planning application is submitted?
The application is checked to make sure we have everything we need to validate it. The guidance notes that accompany the application form are on the Planning Portal website and the validation checklists explain what is needed to make an application valid.
View the validation list.Validation Checking Service
We offer a validation checking service. This service involves a fee.
This will allow for a meeting with the Validation Officer to go through your application and run through further information that may be required in order for the application to be validated. If anything is missing, we will write to or email the applicant (or the applicant's agent) explaining what else is needed. When everything is in order, the application will be registered as valid. This marks the starting point of the target period which, by the end of, we will aim to have made a decision on the application.
Next Steps...
The application will be allocated to a case officer and we will send out an acknowledgement letter. This letter states the date by which we will aim to have made a decision on the application.
