Our tree planting programme

The Council continues to plant trees around the borough, in our parks and open space.   We carefully consider which species to plant to maximise the tree's effectiveness and also to minimise any future nuisance and unnecessary maintenance costs.

Species planted in parks, open spaces and housing estates are selected on suitability to setting, biodiversity value and visual appearance.

Areas targeted for new tree planting are those where trees have been removed or where there is an identified need to increase the overall tree cover.
