Playground sites
Play is an essential part of every child's life and all children growing into healthy adults need the opportunity to play outside. The Council provides in excess of 30 playgrounds/spaces throughout the Borough.
Some sites contain a large amount of equipment or a play trail or a play pocket park. In addition Optivo and Orbit Housing also provides playgrounds/spaces across the town.

Alexandra Park Lower Play Space - TN34 2LB
Alexandra Park Lower Play Space is a large fenced play space located within Grade 2 listed park. The play space is tiered and features lots of climbing and other play opportunities.Suitable for all ages but mostly for 5 to 10 year olds.
Within this playground is a bucket swing with support straps available to hire from the Café. The play space also features an inclusive ground level accessible roundabout and a ramped wooden play unit.
Parking, toilets and café are close by. There are lots of spaces to picnic and play ball games and explore nature. The play space is situated near to the park boating lake.
The nearest road is Lower Park Road.

Alexandra Park Upper Play Space, Shornden - TN37 6SL
Alexandra Park, upper play space is a partly fenced play space with climbing, sliding, swinging and balancing. The play space provides mostly play opportunities for children aged from birth to 10 years.
This playground is temporarily closed as some of the equipment needs repairing. We are working to have this fixed as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Beckley Close Kick a-bout area - TN38 9TA
This tarmac surfaced and enclosed space is equipped with Basketball/Goal combinations and is floodlit. There is also a teenage shelter.

Bembrook Road Natural Play Space - TN34 3PD
Bembrook Road Natural Play Space is a large play area suitable for all ages. The play equipment is situated on large hilly natural space and is unfenced. The play space includes climbing, sliding swinging, balancing and a zip wire.
There is also space and a goal combination for ball games. In addition to the main play site, there is a timber play trail situated next to Old London Road green space entrance. There is a picnic space with parking nearby.
Access to the play space is via Bembrook Road from Croft Road or from the bottom end of Old London Road.

Bexhill Road Recreation Ground (Sophie's Play Space) - TN38 8AR
The Bexleigh, Hythe, Abbey Residents Association (BHARA) was formed in February 2013. It was the BHARA’s vision to create play facilities within the community where there were none to enable all children to play in a safe environment.
Sophie’s Play Space was opened in February 2017. The play space is a large area fenced and situated adjacent to playing fields. It is equipped with a timber climbing frame, 2 seat swing, basket swing, sand sieves, crane and bucket, embankment slide and hill platform, crawling tunnel, play seat (wooden boat) and sandpit.
In March 2019 a new DDA (wheelchair accessible) roundabout was added to this very popular location.
The place space is located at Lewis Avenue off Bexhill Road.

BOS Field Play Space - TN34 2AX
BOS Field Play Space is a fenced local play area with traditional play equipment including multi play, swings, slides, climbing and spinning. The play space is situated within a large green space suitable for ball games and picnics.
The play space is located at the lower end of Elphinstone Road next to the allotments.

Carnoustie Close Play Space - TN38 0AL
Carnoustie Close Play Space is a small local play area situated between two private dwellings. It has been refurbished and currently offers spinning, swinging, sliding and climbing for all ages.
Carnoustie Close is located off Filsham Road.

Celandine Drive Play Space - TN38 0XT
This is a large fenced landscaped play space situated in a newly built neighbourhood.
The play space offers multi play equipment, sliding, swinging, climbing, seesaw, crawling tunnel, trampoline and places to sit and picnic. The space is suitable for all ages.

Cookson Gardens - TN35 5QH
Cookson Gardens is a small local fenced play space which includes swings, rockers and a multi play item. It is suitable for children aged up to 10 years.
This play space is located off Frederick Road.
Darwell Close Playground - TN38 9TH
The site is located in a small area of public open space and is overlooked by a number of properties in the local community.
The play space is fenced and equipped with multi play item, 2 flat swings, 2 cradle swings, two springers, balance bars, hopscotch rubber tiles, grass and bark shaded by a large oak.

Etchingham Drive Playground - TN38 9AB
This small site is located adjacent to an area of wooded public open space and is overlooked by a number of properties.
This play space is fenced and equipped with a double flat swing, Slide/Climbing frame, springer, teenage shelter, tarmac and grass surfaces.

Fleetwood Close Playground - TN37 7RU
This landscaped site is located in an area of public open space and is overlooked by a number of properties in the local community.
This play space is equipped with a balance beam and 4 log steps, two springers, grass, tarmac path.

Gensing Gardens Play Space - TN37 6AU
Gensing Gardens Play Space is a large fenced play space located within a public park with multi play equipment, suitable for picnics and ball games. There are play opportunities for all ages which include spinning, climbing, swinging and sliding.
The play space is located between London Road and Charles Road with parking nearby.

Hastings Adventure Playground - TN34 3PL
Hastings Adventure Playground is owned by Hastings Borough Council but staffed and managed by In2play. The outdoor play space contains zip wire, tyre swings, slides and lots of loose parts to build and play with.
The play space includes a changing hoist. The indoor play space has room for cooking, arts and crafts etc. There are toilets and changing facilities on site and free parking close by. The Playground has an exciting weekly timetable including family play sessions and free after-school sessions for 8 to 13 year olds from 3pm four days per week after school and from 10.30am on Saturdays.New children, young people and families are always very welcome.

Seafront - Pelham Play Space and Trail - TN34 3AJ
Pelham Play space is a significant fenced play space directly next to the beach. It offers a range of opportunities. Swinging, climbing, sliding, seesaw, sand play and music play.
There is a wrecked ship, planting, landscape, rocks, crawling tunnel and a play hut.This play space is suitable for all ages.
Parking, toilets and a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) are situated nearby.
This play space is located next to Pelham car park on Hastings Seafront.
Located along Hastings seafront and St Leonards are pockets of play and exercise trail equipment suitable for a range of ages. All sites follow along the promenade which runs parallel with the A259. There is a quite a walk between the Play Trail sites.
The Trail next to Pelham Place car park offers balancing and monkey bars.

Wishing Tree Natural Play Space - TN38 9LJ
Wishing Tree Natural Play Space is a large unfenced play space offering swinging, climbing, sliding and a zip wire. The space offers opportunities to explore nature in the adjacent woodland with space for ball games, a skate bowl and a smaller fenced more traditional style play space for younger children. Suitable for all ages.
This play space is located between Wishing Tree Road North and Marline Road.

This floodlit major facility is equipped with a concrete skate bowl and adjacent skate plaza, open space, multi use games area (MUGA) and other recreational facilities are located nearby.
