Introduction
Welcome to the Outdoor Events section. Here you can find out everything you need to know about hosting an outdoor event in Hastings.
Hastings is a vibrant town known for a variety of events taking place throughout the year. We are proud to host some of the most quirky and captivating events in the UK.
We hold everything from Community, Cultural and Charity Events, Filming, Processions, a wide range of Music events from Jazz on the Beach to Fat Tuesday celebrating Mardi Gras.
Our busiest event weekend is the first May Bank Holiday weekend when we celebrate all things Jack in the Green, and motorbikes galore with the Hastings Mayday Run. A truly, glorious spectacle.
There are many different types of event that take place in Hastings. The events covered include large outdoor festivals, concerts, country shows, community/charity events, and sporting events. These are often held on public or private parkland, on open Greenfield spaces or, on land with little or no facilities. Typically, these events are put on by organisations such as community and/or voluntary groups and charitable societies for fund-raising.
For the purposes of this guidance:
- 'small' events are those with less than 500 people in attendance at any one time
- 'medium' events will be events with 500-9,999 people in attendance at any one time
- 'large' events are those with 10,000+ people in attendance at any one time
If you are looking to undertake filming or photo shoots you will also need to apply for permission via eventsadmin@hastings.gov.uk.
All our current event locations that are for hire to event organisers can be found on our event locations page.
Terms and conditions will apply. Further information can be found at https://www.visit1066country.com/visitor-info/filming
The responsibilities of organisers, to ensure an event is safe are as relevant for a small outdoor charity event as they are for a borough wide major impact event.
