Local Wildlife Sites
Local Wildlife Sites are the network of local and county wide wildlife sites that have not been accorded the statutory designations of Local Nature Reserves or Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The list of Local Wildlife sites was originally published as Sites of Nature Conservation in the Nature Conservation Strategy in 1996.
In 2006 the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) published Local Sites Guidance on their identification, Selection and Management
In 2009 the Council published a Review of Local Wildlife Sites
