What can't I recycle?
What you can't put in your green bin or pink sack:
- Green Bin Users- Don't use bin liners or bags for your recycling, keep items loose (unless you have been told to use pink sacks)
- Black plastic bags
- Food or drink cartons that are plastic or foil lined, often referred to as Tetra Pak
- Garden waste
- Foil-lined plastic pouches and bags eg. crisp packets, baby and pet food pouches
- Dog waste/cat litter
- Building materials
- Hard plastics (eg. toys, plant pots, plastic strapping, crates, containers)
- Wrapping Paper with Glitter
- Cards with Glitter
- Foil/Paper (mixed) Wrapping Paper
- Polystyrene
- Bubble wrap
- Textiles/Clothing
- Wet Paper/Cardboard
- Broken Glass/Sheets of Glass
- Wine Glasses
- Glass Oven Dishes
- Light bulbs
- Food waste
- Nappies
- Wood
- Rubber
- Ceramics
- Crockery
- Sand
- Window panes
- Mirrors
- Pyrex glassware
- Drinking glasses
- Photographs
- Negatives
- Blister packs (moulded plastic and foil packaging used for tablets/capsules)
- PVC (cling film)
- Tyres
- Batteries and Small electrical items not to be placed in the bin. Please place small electrical items in a small carrier bag and place it on top of either your green or black bin on collection day.
