Adult weight management courses
Hello and welcome to Active Hastings brand new weight loss course. This course is open to anyone living in Hastings and St. Leonards who is over the age of 18 and has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 30. It's really easy to work this out all you need to do is input your details into the BMI calculator and it will give you your BMI.
There are four different weight loss sessions you can join. Once you have chosen the one that best suits you, you will be with that group for 12 weeks.

To sign up to the session fill in the registration form selecting "Adult Weight Management Programme" at the top of the form. Once the team has received this the course instructor will be in touch with you to determine which course will work best for you and to provide you with more details.
Details of your 12 week weight loss journey:
Your weight loss journey will be over 12 consecutive weeks, meeting with your group once a week for an hour and a half.
On week 1 you will meet everyone who will be joining you on your journey and the course instructor. The first thing to do is to get a base line of where you are starting. You will have a full health check done to achieve this, taking your weight, height, and blood pressure, along with some body measurements (if you want to). Once you know your starting point we are then going to get stuck in….this is what you will be doing over the 12 week course.
- Week 1: Food diaries/Goal setting/Exercise
- Week 2: Daily activity/Exercise
- Week 3: Eat well habits/Exercise
- Week 4: Staying hydrated/Exercise
- Week 5: Mindfulness/Exercise
- Week 6: Half way point - recap/Food swaps/Exercise
- Week 7: Healthy shopping/Exercise
- Week 8: GI foods/Exercise
- Week 9: Home cooking/Exercise
- Week 10: Types of exercise
- Week 11: After course planning/Behaviour choices/Exercise
- Week 12: End of course results
We are going to cover everything you need to help you lose weight. You will set yourself goals and try out new things. You are also going to be taking part in suitable exercise along the way and building a new lifestyle for yourself.
Things you will need for the course:
- Exercise clothing, something comfortable you can move around in and a pair of trainers.
- A pen - you won't be writing much but it's just in case you want to write things down.
- A note book - again if you want to take notes.
- A bottle of water - some venues don't have a kitchen for refreshments.
- An exercise mat - for those of you that want to exercise on the floor.
You will receive a folder to keep all your handouts in, but we aren't going to bombard you with things, so don't worry.
Towards the end of the course we will work with you to make a personalised plan for after the 12 week course has finished. You won't just be marched out the door and left! Throughout the course there will be the chance to join WhatsApp groups and Facebook groups so that you can all keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on in the future. You will also be contacted at around week 26 by your course instructor to see how you are getting on.
