About Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve
Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve is one of the most important coastal nature reserves in the UK, which sits within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is the only place the High Weald AONB that is exposed to the sea, and it boasts some of the most stunning views in the southeast.
The reserve is owned by Hastings Borough Council and managed in partnership with Natural England, Groundwork South, volunteers, and local farmers and contractors.
The reserve consists of 345 hectares (853 acres) of ancient gill woodland, coastal heath and acid grassland, maritime cliff and slope, lowland meadows, and sustainably managed farmland, together with around 5 kilometres of dramatic sandstone cliffs and coastline.
Much of the reserve is designated a Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation due to its unique wildlife and fossil rich soft rock cliff and slope.
