  • Electric vehicle (EV) charging points

Parking costs still apply while using the council's electric vehicle charging points. Please make sure you purchase a parking ticket to cover the duration of your stay.

As part of Hastings Borough Council's commitment to tackling climate change, we offer several electric vehicle (EV) charging points in our car parks. These aim to make charging your electric vehicle easier and help to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in the borough.

Below you will find a table with information on the cost for these points and how many are installed in each car park.

    Charging point information
LocationCost per hourNumber of EV charging points
    Pelham Place Car Park, TN34 3AD (7kW)£2.005
    Carlisle Parade Car Park, TN34 1JG (22kW)£3.502
    Priory Street Car Park, TN34 1EA (22kW)£3.5010
    Marina Car Park, TN38 0DW (22kW)£3.503
    Bulverhythe Retail Park, TN38 8AJ (7kW)£2.001

The EV charging points in our car parks do not allow for the cost of use to be paid by kW/hour. It is a set cost of use per hour as shown in the table. Please note the charging rate (kW/h) may vary at times depending on usage and battery capacity.

You can view the location of these car parks using our interactive map.

At times, the number of EV chargers available could be reduced due to damage or faults, please check Zap-Map before making a journey.

    Parking charges

Customers using these points must pay for parking while charging their vehicle. There is a maximum stay of 5 hours in the electric charging bays. This will ensure that the charging point is available for another customer.

More information on our council car parks and parking charges can be found on our parking page.

How to use the EV charging points

Our charging points are supplied by EO. To use them you need to:

    1. Scan the QR code on site or download the EO App.
    2. Then plug in the charging cable
    3. Scan the charger QR code with the EO App
    4. Tap 'just charge' in the EO App.

The electricity cost is paid through the EO App but remember that the parking charges must be paid separately.

    Reporting an issue

If there is an issue with the EO App, you can call their 24/7 support line on +44 (0) 333 77 20383.

If you notice an issue with a council EV point, please let us know by calling 01424 451070 or using our online report it form.

Other charging points in the borough

There are lots of other charging points in the borough, these can be found using Zap-Map and carwow.

    Electric vehicle grants

Some types of low-emission vehicles are eligible for a grant from the government, so that you can buy them more cheaply. You do not apply for the grant. The seller includes it as a discount in the purchase price.
You can find out more about these grants on the government's website.
