Hastings Museum & Art Gallery launches Queer History Trail
Published 30/01/2023
To celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month, the Hastings Queer History Collective are launching a self-guided queer map and walking trail of LGBTQIA+ objects in Hastings Museum and Art Gallery's collection.
The launch event for this trail is being held at the museum on 24 February 2023 at 6.30pm. This is a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about the objects in the museum by hearing their stories through the Collective researchers.
Cllr Andy Batsford, lead for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said:
"This trail will feature an array of museum objects selected by the Hastings Queer History Collective. These objects will take you on a journey through the struggles, triumphs, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Hastings and in history, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of learning about, preserving and sharing LGBTQIA+ history."
Book a free ticket at www.hmag.org.uk and enjoy gaining a deeper understanding of Hastings' LGBTQIA+ community and its place in history. Complementary refreshments will be provided at the launch event.
