Comment on the Pragmatix Levelling Up Report

Following the publication of a report into coastal communities and the inequalities they face Hastings Borough Council has issued the following comment.

Cllr Paul Barnett, leader of Hastings Borough Council, said: "We welcome this report into the inequalities that coastal communities face. We know that many of the points made in this report are true of Hastings, and we will continue to work with our partners to address these inequalities. The report notes the recent trend towards short term and competitive funding which makes it very difficult to plan strategically for the many improvements to people's lives that are so badly needed. It is important that the government takes note of the points made in this report when looking at future Levelling Up opportunities."
