Online petitions now accepted for planning and licensing applications
Published 27/07/2020
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hastings Borough Council has now amended its Constitution to accept electronic petitions (E-petitions) for both planning and licensing applications.
Cllr Judy Rogers, lead councillor for Equalities, Organisational Well-Being & Performance said,
"We as an organisation are still continuing to adapt to the circumstances of COVID-19, and are constantly working on making more of our services available online. Paper petitions will still be acceptable, however under current conditions, it is safer and easier for us to accept E-petitions for licensing and planning applications.
Residents have a right to comment on licensing and planning applications and petitions are one method of exercising this right. The council is committed to listening to and acting on the views of the public. We want to make sure that COVID-19 doesn't disrupt the opportunity for residents to have a voice regarding these decisions."
All E-petitions must contain a minimum of ten signatories from different households, who live, work or study in the Hastings borough, and there are strict guidelines for how E-Petitions can be created and submitted.
More information about how E-petitions can be created and submitted can be found on the council's website at www.hastings.gov.uk/epetitions
