Six-week pelvic floor course launches in Hastings
Published 24/04/2023
A new six-week pelvic floor and core course has been launched by Active Hastings to improve women's knowledge of their pelvic floor health and to reduce pelvic floor symptoms. The Taking Control: Your pelvic floor and core courses include floor-based and seated exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor and core muscles.
Heather, Active Hastings Course Instructor said: "If you can't sneeze, laugh, or cough without leaking a little urine, you're not alone. Problems with the pelvic floor are common and can happen to anyone. But the good news is that including pelvic floor exercises into your fitness routine can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Together we can reduce the taboo around pelvic floor health."
There are two courses available. The first course is for women aged 18 to 50 years and/or perimenopausal women and takes place at Horntye Park. The six week course costs £18 and starts on Thursday 11 May, 7pm to 8pm and can be booked by visiting: https://eequ.org/experience/2519 The second course is for menopausal women and takes place at Broomgrove Community Centre and starts on Friday 12 May, 12.30pm to 1.30pm and costs £18 or £3.50 for Broomgrove residents (thanks to funding from the Levelling Up fund) and can be booked by visiting https://eequ.org/experience/3123. Booking is essential for both courses.
Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: "We are keen for this course to reach as many women as possible throughout Hastings and to give women the opportunity to learn more about their pelvic floor health, which can lead to life changing benefits."
