Published 30/05/2024
The Order of 1066 Award is presented annually on Hastings Day to recognise and honour a person who has given exceptional service to the town and its residents in a voluntary capacity.
The winner of the Order of 1066 Award will be decided by a panel, which is chaired by the Mayor, with the award presented at a ceremony on Monday 14 October, as part of the Hastings Week programme.
Nominations are invited from both organisations and individuals in the town. The nomination form and criteria for selection can be viewed at https://www.hastings.gov.uk/my-community/order-1066-award/. The deadline for forms to be submitted is Friday 16 August.
The Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Judy Rogers, said,
"In our community we have so many people who take on voluntary roles to help others, often without much recognition for the time and hard work they put in. This award enables us to publicly recognise the sacrifices that these fantastic people have made for Hastings.
"I am excited to look through all of the submissions for this year's award and find out what people have been doing for our town. If you know someone who is worthy of being recognised for their dedication, please do submit their details and some information about their exceptional service."
