A new home for Hastings' cheerleading squad

A cheerleading squad in Hastings now have a new home thanks to Hastings Borough Council.

Dynasty Reign Allstars have signed a ten-year lease with the council on a unit on Castleham Industrial Estate which will be used as their permanent home for training.

The group were formed in 2015, and have 150 young people from across Hastings involved.

The unit will be used for their competitive and recreational cheerleading programmes, including dedicated sprung cheer floors and tumbling equipment. Having a larger, purpose-built training space means more opportunities for local children and young people with an expansion of the recreational programme and the chance to continue developing athletes from beginner level through to national and international competition.

Ashleigh Rowe, CEO & Programme Director, Dynasty Reign Allstars said: “We are incredibly excited to finally have a permanent home for Dynasty Reign Allstars. The House of Reign represents more than just a new gym for us – it gives our athletes a space that truly belongs to them and gives us the opportunity to continue growing what we can offer children and young people across Hastings and the surrounding area.

“We have come such a long way since starting the programme in 2015, and seeing our own dedicated facility become a reality is a very proud moment. Our athletes compete at national, European and international level, and we’re excited that they now have a facility here in St Leonards that reflects the level they are working towards.

“Most importantly, this new space gives us the capacity to welcome more young people into cheerleading, whether they want to compete or simply take part recreationally, build confidence, make friends and be part of a team. We’re really looking forward to seeing The House of Reign become a thriving home for our athletes and our wider community.”

Cllr Darren Mackenzie, lead councillor for assets, said: “I’m delighted we have been able to agree this lease with Dynasty Reign Allstars, to give this local group the chance to continue growing and giving amazing opportunities to Hastings’ young people. I look forward to seeing how the squad develops in the coming months and years.”

Cllr Glenn Haffenden, leader of the council and lead councillor for sport and leisure, said: “It’s great that we are able to work with Dynasty Reign Allstars who are offering a different sports opportunity to Hastings’ young people. Cheerleading is a great way to get active and it develops excellent team working skills as squads work together.”
