Join the fun at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery
Published 04/04/2022
There is lots to get involved in at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery this spring including children's trails, Lego sessions, performances and drawing competitions.
The museum has a fun packed schedule over the next few months including its Super Silly Museum Trail which has been organised with Kids in Museums and Scholastic UK to celebrate museums and creativity. Explore the trail at the museum before 17 April to find all the objects.
Another activity for children is All About You-seum, a competition for those aged five to eleven. Children are challenged to draw and create a museum inspired by their life, personality, interests and what they think makes a great museum. This should be emailed to publicity@scholastic.co.uk with the subject line 'Super Silly Museums Competition' by 20 May 2022 to be in with a chance of winning a prize. The prizes up for grabs include an Art Fund Family Membership, a virtual school visit with Nick Sharratt, and £100 worth of picture books.
The fun does not stop there, on 1 May 2022 Animals! an uplifting performance about animals, humans, and nature comes to the museum to celebrate the wildlife around us. In keeping with the animal theme, the museum is hosting an Animal Origami session between 28 May and 5 June. Participants can explore the animals in the museum and make an origami animal to take home.
Lego Lab returns throughout the spring and summer, allowing everyone aged five and over to get creative, have fun, and make amazing programmable machines and creatures.
More details and information on booking can be found on the museum's brand-new website www.hmag.org.uk/.
Kevin Boorman, Hastings Borough Council's Marketing Manager, said:
"If these fantastic sessions are not enough to keep you busy over the Easter holidays, the Bob Mazzer in Camera: A Retrospective exhibition has also been extended due to popular demand. It's a great exhibition, and really worth visiting: - lots of local people feature in it! Visit the museum to explore his captivating collection until 26 June.
"There are also more fun activities coming to the museum over the summer holidays too, including circus school, seated dance classes and Sanctuary Festival 2022, an annual community festival organised by Hastings Community of Sanctuary to raise funds for Hastings Supports Refugees."
