'Let's do it for Hastings!' Council urges residents to keep it up
Published 17/08/2020
Hastings Borough Council is urging residents to keep up the good work of staying safe and protecting others, as infection rates remain low in Hastings but continued local outbreaks elsewhere show risks remain.
With increased lockdown easing from last Saturday, residents enjoying the last of the nice summer weather and final days of the school summer holidays, and many people visiting, the town is busy. To continue to keep infection rates here low and enjoy these freedoms, we all have a role to play in following guidance and respecting the rules in place in shops, eateries and attractions in the town.
Cllr Kim Forward, leader of the council, said,
"We understand with even more businesses being open and activities being able to take place, it may seem as if the risk of COVID-19 has gone. Unfortunately, the risk is still very real and we all must be aware of this.
"I'm sure we've all seen the news about local lockdowns across the country, and we want to make sure that this doesn't happen in Hastings. Our infection rates were, and still are, very low and we want to make sure we keep it this way.
"We all need to do our bit to continue to follow the government guidance: keep social distancing, wear a face covering if you can, and wash/sanitise your hands regularly and if you have any symptoms get a test and self-isolate. Please, do it for your own safety, do it to protect your family and friends, and do it for Hastings."
