Have your say on Hastings’ housing

Everyone who lives or owns property in Hastings is being asked to have their say in a survey into Hastings’ housing. The survey is part of the council’s work to create a new Housing Strategy to help address the housing crisis in Hastings.

The online survey has five simple questions about housing in Hastings and will help inform the development of the draft strategy. The survey is anonymous and will close on Friday 30 May. Further consultation events on the Housing Strategy will happen during April – June.

Cllr Glenn Haffenden, lead councillor for housing and community wellbeing, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible about their experiences of housing in Hastings. One of our key priorities in our new Corporate Plan is tackling the housing crisis and working towards every resident in Hastings having a safe and secure place to call home.”

The strategy is being co-produced by the Housing Strategy Steering Group, a group made up of the local community and key stakeholders.

Frances Mapstone, Chair of the Steering Group, said: “It’s clear to everyone that we have a housing crisis in Hastings. This is why hearing from as many people as possible about what needs to be in the new housing strategy is so important. Through the Steering Group and several subgroups, we have benefitted from the experience, expertise, and passion of many people already - but we now want to hear what is most important to the wider community in making sure everyone in Hastings has a decent home to live in.”

Please complete the online survey. Paper copies can be provided on request. This survey does not include questions about sleeping in vehicles, this will be discussed later on in the development of the Housing Strategy.
