Are you interested in helping to spend grant funding?
Published 10/11/2022
Do you have some spare time and want to get involved in supporting your local community? This opportunity could be for you.
Hastings Borough Council is looking for more volunteers to sit on its Grants Advisory Panel. The Panel gives advice to the Hastings and St Leonards Foreshore Trust on how its surplus income should be distributed through grants to community groups and organisations within the town. The larger grants are centred around homelessness, domestic violence and supporting the community and voluntary sector.
We are looking for more volunteers to join our existing panel. The Panel meets around four times a year and other meetings may be called as and when necessary. We are particularly looking for people with:
" experience and knowledge of the local voluntary and charitable sector;
" knowledge of social issues in the Borough of Hastings;
" involvement in local community or voluntary projects.Cllr John Cannan, Chair of the Charity Committee said: "As newly appointed chair of the Charity Committee I am looking forward to getting involved in this work. Our community groups and organisations are vitally important to this town. The grants that the Foreshore Trust can provide means that it is able to offer support to our residents who need extra help. This will be a very rewarding opportunity for anyone who is able to spare some time. I'd encourage anyone who has the time to put themselves forward."
Anyone interested should email Mary Kilner, Chief Legal Officer, on
