Council distributes funding fast

Hastings Borough Council has already distributed local restriction support grants to 172 businesses and counting across Hastings. The scheme was launched last Thursday morning (12 November), and £249,764 has already been distributed.

Cllr Peter Chowney, lead councillor for Financial Management and Estates said,

"Our officers are working incredibly hard to distribute this funding as quickly as possible to our local businesses.

"We expect just over 1400 businesses to be eligible, so we are asking any business in Hastings that has been required to close as a result of Government restrictions to go to our website to check if they are eligible for this grant.

"And we are also encouraging everyone to shop local this Christmas. A single grant can only go so far, and what businesses really need in the run up to Christmas is trade. Although we cannot shop in the same way we're used to whilst these restrictions are in place, please do check to see if your local independent retailers are offering click and collect or delivery services online."
