Council supports businesses with COVID-19 compliance
Published 12/11/2020
Hastings Borough Council has set out its plans for the £62,000 grant offered by the Government to help with local COVID-19 compliance and enforcement activities.
This grant will enable the council to employ additional staff whose roles are dedicated solely to helping local businesses during the current pandemic. These staff members will provide essential support to local businesses, helping them to comply with the guidelines set out by government and the measures they need to put in place to keep us all safe.
Cllr Kim Forward, leader of the council, said,
"Our Environmental Health team have been assisting businesses with the guidance throughout this pandemic and this government grant comes as a welcome boost meaning we can increase the number of officers with dedicated COVID-19 roles.
"This funding will also enable us to have the resources available to support more businesses during the next stages of this pandemic, helping us to continue to work together as a town to keep our infection rate low.
"We are grateful for all of the hard work of our valued local businesses over the many months of this pandemic and we aim through this extra resource to provide more support to them in the months to come.
"We will continue to work together to keep the safety of both employees and the public at the forefront of operations during this challenging time."
