Cabinet to discuss range of reports
Published 05/07/2024
Councillors will meet on Monday 15 July to discuss a range of reports at the next Cabinet meeting. Reports on the agenda include a review of part of the dog control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).
The dog control PSPO report proposes a new consultation on the dog exclusion zones at the Stade and Rock-a-Nore. This has been requested by the new Cabinet and residents who were unhappy with the restrictions agreed by the previous Cabinet in March 2023. If Cabinet agree to the new consultation, residents and visitors will be asked for their preferred option out of three. The current restrictions are legally binding so have to remain in place until any review has been completed with enforcement continuing.
There will be financial updates with the year-end reports. The financial picture is more positive than it has been with increased interest rates benefiting savings and restrictions on spending meaning the 2023-24 budget was better than predicted.
Councillors are being asked to agree a response to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities' productivity survey which was sent to every local authority. They will also hear an update on performance monitoring and risk management.
Cllr Julia Hilton, leader of the council, said: "This agenda includes important updates on finance and council work, and we know that lots of people are keen for us to consider the dog control PSPO again. I hope we will also have questions from residents at the meeting as we were not able to take these at the last Cabinet meeting due to the general election."
The Cabinet meeting will start at 6pm at Muriel Matters House, with half an hour for questions from the public before the reports are discussed. You can read the full agenda and watch the meeting online.
