Launch events at the new home for Arts on Prescription

A community arts group focusing on mental health and wellbeing is preparing for their opening event from their unique new base in Alexandra Park.
Arts on Prescription will be working out of the Bowling Pavilion and Lawn near the lake in the park, after being granted a lease by Hastings Borough Council.
The group will be hosting a free Easter workshop on Saturday 16 April, from 11am to 4pm. There will be eggcellent fun activities and art workshops.
There will be further events in the year, including a garland and art workshop on Saturday 8 May, 11am to 4pm, and a Platinum Jubilee tea party and picnic. More events are planned for the rest of the year including walks, talk and creative and wellbeing activities that will be accessible to all the community. Tara Reddy, Arts on Prescription Founding Director, said: "The AOP team is delighted to have secured such a lovely accessible space to deliver art for wellbeing programs promoting the benefit of participating in art, culture and nature. This central location in Alexandra Park will provide a really therapeutic environment. We have lots of exciting plans and look forward to seeing people on Saturday 16 April at our Open Day Picnic, find out what we have planned, get involved and help make this a creative wellbeing space for the Hastings community."
Cllr Paul Barnett, lead councillor for regeneration, said: "We are delighted that Arts on Prescription are going to be working out of this beautiful central location. The work they have been doing to help people and their wellbeing during the pandemic has been invaluable. I am sure they will be very successful in their new home."
