October Half Term Activities with Active Hastings

This October Half Term, Active Hastings have a range of free drop-in sport sessions running throughout the week, check them out!
They will kick start the week with their free Street Tennis session at Quantock Gardens on Monday 23 October, 2pm to 3.30pm. All equipment will be provided for a fun afternoon of tennis games and more. The Street Tennis session is open to children aged 8 to 15 of all abilities (activities will be split into age groups). The Active Hastings team will then make their way to Farley Bank for their free Street Football session on Tuesday 24 October, 4pm to 5.30pm. Street Football is a great opportunity to play football with your friends as well as making new friends along the way, this session is for children aged 8 to 15.
On the Wednesday (25 October), Active Hastings are excited to offer children (aged 6 to 16) the opportunity to be coached by the Hastings and Bexhill Rugby Club at their free community taster day. So, head down to the Hastings and Bexhill Rugby Club on Wednesday 25 October, 1pm to 3pm and learn new skills, develop techniques and have fun! Under 8s should be accompanied by an adult. Children in year 4+ are encouraged to bring a gum shield with them, or new players can buy one on the day for £2.50.
Or if dancing's more your thing, together with DanceHub, Active Hastings are delighted to offer two free Street Dance classes, taking place on Wednesday 25 October, 4.30pm to 5.30pm at Hollington Youth Hub and Friday 27 October, 2.30pm to 3.30pm at Broomgrove Community Centre. The street dance classes give children (aged 10 to 16), the opportunity to learn exciting new dance moves, taught by a dynamic team of professional young choreographers.
Or grab your trainers and head down to the running track at Ark Alexandra (upper school) and join them for a free afternoon of track and field-based games at the Introduction to Youth Athletics session on Thursday 26 October, 1pm to 3pm. This is a free taster session to track and field events for children aged 8 to 16.
Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: "I am delighted we are offering a wide range of free activities for local children this October half term. An active lifestyle has many positive effects on children, not only is it a great way for children to develop their physical and mental wellbeing, but it also encourages teamwork and improves social skills."
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.
All Active Hastings October half term activities are drop in, but all children will need to be registered before attending, this can be completed on the door or in advance at: activehastings.org.uk/registration

It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier.
