Free exercise classes for new mums
Published 20/10/2022
Calling all new mums! Do you want to get active after childbirth, but not sure where to start? Join one of Active Hastings' FREE 4-week courses and find out what activities are recommended after childbirth, what's available in your local area, have a go at different activities and meet new mum friends.
The next course starts on Friday 4 November, 9.45am to 10.45am at Tilekiln Community Centre. Visit the Active Hastings website for details and to book your place: https://www.hastings.gov.uk/sport_play/getactive/thismumcan/
The Active Hastings This Mum Can classes are funded by Sport England's This Girl Can Community Fund.
Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: "It's great we can continue to roll out this four week This Mum Can course. The course enables new mums to get active for free, while meeting other new mums."
Beth, a recent course attendee said: "'I really enjoyed getting back into exercise with this course. The classes were gentle enough to feel safe, but active enough to get those endorphins going. It was nice to meet other mums and chat at the end."
The courses are open to anyone who has a baby under 12 months old and lives in Hastings or St Leonards on Sea. All attendees need to have had their six week check with their GP before attending the course, so you can join in all the activities.
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active. There are a range of exercise classes to suit everyone, visit the Active Hastings website for the list of activities happening near you (www.activehastings.org.uk).-ENDS-
Notes to editor:
Active Hastings
Active Hastings works closely with local providers of physical activity to give you easy, fun ways to get your everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots!
Active Hastings coordinates the local Community Physical Activity Network, which brings together schools, sport clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, health organisations, the voluntary sector and the private sector to work together, unblock barriers to participation and improve the local sport and physical activity delivery system.
