Free exercise classes for new mums
Published 21/09/2022
Calling all new mums! Do you want to get active after childbirth, but not sure where to start? Join one of Active Hastings' FREE four week courses and find out what activities are recommended after childbirth, what's available in your local area, have a go at different activities and meet new mum friends.
The next course starts on Thursday 29th September, at West Hill Community Centre. Visit the Active Hastings for details and to book your place.
The Active Hastings This Mum Can classes are funded by Sport England's This Girl Can Community Fund.
Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: "The This Girl Can campaign was created to inspire women and girls to get moving, regardless of their shape, size and ability. We hope this four-week course will give new mums the opportunity to get active for free, while meeting other new mums".
The courses are open to anyone who has a baby under 12 months old and lives in Hastings or St Leonards on Sea. All attendees need to have had their six-week check with their GP before attending the course, so you can join in all the activities.
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active. There are a range of exercise classes to suit everyone, visit Active Hastings for the list of activities happening near you.

Notes to editor:
Active Hastings
Active Hastings works closely with local providers of physical activity to give you easy, fun ways to get your everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots!
Active Hastings coordinates the local Community Physical Activity Network, which brings together schools, sport clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, health organisations, the voluntary sector and the private sector to work together, unblock barriers to participation and improve the local sport and physical activity delivery system.
