Active Hastings comes to Broomgrove
Published 27/06/2023
With thanks to funding from the UK Prosperity Fund, Active Hastings have appointed Heather Jury as their new Physical Activity Development Officer for Broomgrove. The role has been created to develop physical activity opportunities within the Broomgrove area of Hastings.
Heather will consult with residents to identify issues, trends and gaps in the local physical activity offer, and create new opportunities through working with the network of local instructors and sports coaches to launch new sport, physical activity and active play sessions.
Heather, Physical Activity Development Officer, said: "As part of this project Active Hastings will deliver a range of physical activity opportunities in the Broomgrove area, which we hope will engage residents, including children and young people, older people, families and people with long term health conditions. I'm looking forward to working alongside the residents to ensure we provide a calendar of activities that increase social interaction, whilst encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle."
Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: "We are very excited to bring new physical activity offerings to the residents of Broomgrove, with thanks to the UK Prosperity Fund. Being physically active, not only has immense physical and wellbeing benefits, but it can also increase a sense of personal achievement, confidence and self-esteem."
Active Hastings has received £107,544 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.
