New Age Friendly Sessions come to Hastings
Published 12/03/2024
Active Hastings are excited to announce they have launched a number of new low-cost age friendly physical activity sessions, to accompany their already jammed pack calendar of activities.
Join the Active Hastings team on Tuesday 26 March, from 11am to 12.30pm, for their free Age Friendly Coffee Morning and Activity Taster Day, at the Broomgrove Community Centre. Pop along to this free event and join them for free tea, coffee and snacks and find out what activities are available in Hastings. You can even try out fun activities for free, such as Badminton, Chair-Based Exercise and more! No need to book, simply pop along.
Or on a Friday, join Active Hastings, together with Laura, from Allure Fitness, for a new Seated Exercise Class. The class takes place at Play Sport Fitness Hub on Elphinstone Road, every Friday, from 10.15am to 11am for just £3.30. The strength-based workout is for people who struggle to weight bear, stand for too long, or exercise whilst standing, but still want to build strength. Laura's priority is to ensure everyone feels relaxed, comfortable and safe in all her sessions. Booking is essential.
Laura, from Allure Fitness said: "Health, fitness and exercise should be seen as a way of rewarding a body we appreciate and love rather than punishing one we hate."
Councillor Glenn Haffenden, Deputy Leader and Environment, Community Safety, Health, Equalities and HR at Hastings Borough Council, said: "We are very proud to be delivering a range of physical activity classes which benefit people of all ages and abilities. These classes give everyone the opportunity to meet new people and have a go at something they may not have tried before. These sessions are open to anyone across the town, not just residents in the area where they are held." To be kept up to date on Active Hastings activities, follow the Active Hastings Facebook page or visit their website.

Notes to editor:
Active Hastings works closely with local providers of physical activity to give you easy, fun ways to get your everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots!
Active Hastings coordinates the local Community Physical Activity Network, which brings together schools, sport clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, health organisations, the voluntary sector and the private sector to work together, unblock barriers to participation and improve the local sport and physical activity delivery system.
Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.
