Overview and Scrutiny Committee set work plan for the year
Published 16/08/2021
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee has agreed a work plan for the rest of the council term.
The work plan covers several main areas of focus, including the Town Deal, planning enforcement, recovery from the pandemic, Seachange, staff training and development, My Hastings update and communications and engagement. This work will be carried out before the end of the council term in March 2022.
The committee, made up of 11 councillors from the Labour and Conservative groups, monitors performance against the targets set out in the council's corporate plan. It also identifies potential areas for improvement and explores options to develop council services. Members also undertake reviews which look at issues of local importance.
The committee will also be meeting with the Leader of the Council and the Deputy Leader of the Council to understand the council's strengths and weaknesses before the work plan is begun.
Cllr Andrew Battley and Cllr Andy Patmore, Chair and Vice Chair of the Committee, said,
"The work of Overview and Scrutiny Committee is to ensure the council is delivering on what has been set out in the corporate plan. This work plan for the rest of the council term will provide an opportunity for councillors to scrutinise some of the biggest projects including the huge investment coming through the Town Deal."
