Looking for a new challenge this year?
Published 22/02/2022
If you have some spare time and are keen to get involved in your local community, helping decide where grant funding is spent, this opportunity could be for you.
The Grants Advisory Panel is looking for volunteers to sit on the panel, which gives advice to the Hastings and St Leonards Foreshore Trust on how its surplus income should be distributed.
We are looking for more volunteers to join our existing panel. The panel meets around four times a year. We are particularly looking for people with:
- experience and knowledge of the local voluntary and charitable sector;
- knowledge of social issues in the Borough of Hastings.
Cllr Trevor Webb, Chair of the Charity Committee, said: "This is very rewarding work, getting to decide where grants and funding go to help the local community. In the past grants have funded artwork on the seafront, a musical mentoring project for young people, and a virtual café for carers. I'd encourage anyone with an interest in helping and supporting their community to apply.
"There is a minimal time commitment for volunteers. Ahead of meetings, there is some reading of applications required to determine which grant applications will be successful."
Anyone interested should email Mary Kilner, Chief Legal Officer, on mary.kilner@hastings.gov.uk with their CV and supporting statement by 1 March 2022.
