Published 18/07/2022
The Order of 1066 Award is presented annually on Hastings Day to recognise and honour a person who has given exceptional service to the town and its residents in a voluntary capacity.
The winner of the Order of 1066 Award will be decided by a panel, which is chaired by the Mayor, with the award presented at a ceremony on Friday 14 October, as part of the Hastings Week programme.
Nominations are invited from both organisations and individuals in the town. The nomination form and criteria for selection can be viewed at www.hastings.gov.uk/my-community/order-of-1066. The deadline for forms to be submitted is Friday 19 August.
The Mayor of Hastings, Cllr James Bacon, said,
"Throughout the pandemic, we have seen a great deal of community spirit with many people taking on voluntary roles to help others. This award enables us to recognise the hard work and sacrifices that these people have made for our borough.
"I am excited to see the submissions for this year's award and find out about all of the great things people have done. Please get involved if you know someone worthy of being recognised for their dedication to the town."
