Hastings Youth Council
The Youth Council is an organisation working together to make a difference for young people in Hastings. Every member of the Youth Council plays an important role in empowering the young people of Hastings.
Anyone from 13 to 21 years old can become a youth councillor. You don't need to have any experience or qualifications but it is important that you have opinions and are prepared to express them.
The Youth Council is supported by Hastings Borough Council who provide workers, office space and an annual budget.
The Youth Council hold a bi-monthly open meeting to discuss any issues, give a progress update of work and plan for the next two months work.
Recently the Youth Council have campaigned on:
- Raise Mental Health awareness and Better services in Hastings
- Better sex education for LGBT in schools
- Cheaper transport for Young people in Hastings and St Leonards
- Continue to help develop and monitor Youth strategies
