FOI request (FOIR-208836790)
Demographics of homeless households
Requested Tue 19 May 2020
Responded Wed 10 June 2020We are conducting a research study on the costs of homelessness on behalf of a national charity. The following questions are designed to inform our research.
The current data on statutory homelessness provides quarterly information about the number of households owed prevention and relief duties by household type, including single parent (male/female/other or gender not known) households with or without dependent children. However, some detail is not published, or not yet published in this data. There is information we would like to understand more about through the following questions:
1. If you collect data on the number of children within single-parent households, how many single-parent households contain one, two, three, or three or more children?
In the same live tables on statutory homelessness, data on the age of the main applicant of households owed a prevention or relief duty (table A6) is not published.
2. If you collect data on the age of the main applicant of households owed a prevention or relief duty, what is the breakdown of households owed a prevention or relief duty by age of main applicant?
a. If you collect information on the household composition of households by age, i.e. single/couple, with or without dependent children [by number of dependent children], what is the household composition by age of applicant?
3. If you collect the following data, how many households threatened with homelessness or who are homeless are in receipt of housing benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit?
