Black and Minority Ethnic Groups
The population of Hastings is becoming more diverse and multi-cultural. The Council support the Black and Minority Ethnic Groups (BME) and individuals and engage with this community and empower them to represent themselves.
There are felt to be many ways of achieving this and the Council works with a variety of BME community groups and individuals to enable this to happen, where possible led by them and always on their terms.
Hastings Intercultural Organisation
Hastings Intercultural Organisation (HIO) aims to support and empower BME communities, also challenges prejudice and discrimination in all areas of members' lives.
Hastings Older People Group
Hastings Older People Group (Hope-G) is an organisation based in Hastings to represent the senior's BME group. Find out more on the ESCIS website.
Hastings Borough Council work very closely with HIO and HOPE-G to enable members of the BME community have a voice in the town.
