Guide to the Licensing Act 2003
The Licensing Act 2003 replaces the outdated Liquor Licensing and Entertainment laws and incorporates them into one new Act. It also moves the licensing responsibility away from the Police and Magistrates Courts and places it with the Local Authority.
Hastings Borough Council, under its obligations as a licensing authority to the Act, has formulated its policy in respect of the retail sale of alcohol, the supply of alcohol by clubs, provision of regulated entertainment and the provision of late night refreshment. This policy is reviewed every three years in line with the Act, in addition it is constantly monitored and will be amended if the need arises.
