I have found a stray dog
The Council's only statutory responsibility for dealing with stray dogs is to provide stray dog control services and have appointed Animal Wardens Ltd. to fulfil this function.
Animal Wardens Ltd. will deal with calls direct from Hastings residents and dog owners via their national call centre.
Animal Wardens staff will pick up stray dogs from members of the public only where they have been contained or restrained. They will transport them to holding kennels and where possible reunite them with the owners, or where this is not possible within 7 days of seizure, rehome the dogs with new owners. If a dog is not contained and running loose Animal Wardens will not be able to deal with it. The Police should be informed if it is likely to cause a road traffic incident.
If you find and secure a stray dog, contact our contractors, not the Council, in order that the contractor can arrange to come and seize the dog. Our contractors service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays.
Please contact Animal Wardens Ltd. directly on 01424 490034.
