Cllr Ian Hollidge (Rother District Council)
After starting work in late 60’s with Greater London Council and studying Civil Engineering at Westminster Technical College, I then moved to South Africa joining Johannesburg City Council in 1974. After a year I moved to a Civil Engineering Company leading to me managing large construction sites as project manager with up to 300 staff. These were mainly new developments focussing on providing all the services before housing started.
On return to UK in 1982 I built a career in sales till semi-retirement in 2004 when I started a small property maintenance business until becoming elected as a Councillor in 2015. For the last 20 years I’ve been involved with Sustrans assisting with their aim of making Walking and Cycling a part of every journey. As Portfolio holder for transport I’m involved with lobbying Government for High Speed Rail, A21 and A27 improvements. I’m now fully retired and enjoying a life in public service.
