Senior representatives of Southern Water joined Hastings borough councillors at a public meeting on Tuesday 23 July after being called to answer public concerns on the major water outage, sewage burst and town centre flooding, by the council leader, Julia Hilton. The Southern Water team, made up of Lawrence Gosden, Katy Taylor, Tim McMahon and John Penicud, gave a presentation to the meeting and then answered questions from councillors and the public attendees.
Cllr Julia Hilton, leader of the council, said: "Thanks to Southern Water for coming and meeting with us and the residents who had many questions after several incidents that have impacted Hastings, including flooding and the serious water outage earlier this year. We are united as a council in continuing to hold Southern Water to account. On Tuesday they promised to come back in three months to present a detailed investment plan for their infrastructure in Hastings by October as well as answering the many specific questions from residents. There is much work to be done to rebuild the trust between Southern Water and Hastings but we hope this is the start of that process."
