Statement from Leader and Deputy Leader following Manchester attack
Published 03/10/2025

The Leader and Deputy Leader of Hastings Borough Council, Councillor Glenn Haffenden and Councillor Julia Hilton have issued the following statement after the horrific attack at a Manchester Synagogue yesterday.
"We are appalled to hear of the attack on the Jewish community in Manchester yesterday, especially on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Our thoughts are with the families of those killed and injured, as well as the wider Jewish community who will be feeling the impact of this violence and violation.
We must stand together against the rise in anti-Semitism and the wider increase in intolerance and hate and ensure the safety of our communities."
