New Natural History Gallery coming to Hastings Museum & Art Gallery
Published 22/01/2026

Hastings Museum & Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its Natural History Gallery is being updated thanks to the museum’s Arts Council England’s NPO (National Portfolio Organisation) funded programme.
The Natural History Gallery has been a much-loved space for decades, with its very evocative dioramas of natural and man-made spaces filled with hundreds of taxidermy specimens of animals. The museum team has worked with Dens and Signals, the home educating community and artist Ellie Fryer to refresh the space.
The newly refreshed gallery will open on Wednesday 4 February.
Cllr Julia Hilton, lead councillor for shaping place and local government reorganisation, said: “I’m delighted that this gallery is being refreshed, it is great to see that the museum team has worked with local home educated children to make this exhibition exciting and engaging for them. The work done by the museum team alongside the children and Ellie Fryer looks great and I am sure everyone will be delighted to see it when it reopens. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved, including Ben and Jane of Dens and Signals who have gone over and above to complete a brilliant project.”
